Default Fuel / mileage question

Hi all,

I recently bought a 2001 600 (touring model not sport).

My question is how many miles, with average riding, can a full tank get you?

There's not too many fuel stations where i'm planning to ride and don't want to get caught out.

Thanks in advance

I have an 02 F4i, and moderate riding ( giving it a good blast every so often ) usually runs me around 280km. Obviously road condition, riding style and other factors will come into play so the 280 is just a "rough"timate number. Fuel up early, it's a long heavy push to fuel if you take to much of a chance! Oh and don't rely on your reserve light, it disappears faster than you expect it to! You want an exact number fill up your tank and go for some rides, when your reserve light comes on have someone follow with a splash of gas in a can and run her out, see what you get!

"Faster then you think it does"

Boy do I understand that :P.
When I went to pick up my new-to-me 2001 F4i that was ~350km away, I had never been to that area, and even with google mapping I got lost :P. The owner said there was about a half tank in her, and by the time I finally made it to a gas station after getting lost all 4 bars were flashing and I swear she was ready to die...

On another note, ~280 seems to be the average I've seen. Again, depends on how you ride like it has been said.

Just so ya know, americans only got the sport model. Even when switching to the banana seat in 04 we kept the better cams and shorter gearing so how the bike respondes over here might not be the same thing you see. Combine that with people on here reporting anywhere from 30mpg to 50mpg during daily driving and your not going to get a strait answer.

I log my fuel consumption on my phone using an app, and I seem to get around 38mpg with an aftermarket pipe and spirited riding.

I always try to fill up before 140 miles, my reserve usually comes on around 110-120. Too scared to run out of gas!

On my 06 f4i with a sprocket mod -1 front +2 rear, i get around 140-150 miles with casual riding, around 100 miles if i drop the wrist.

If my math is correct (which is a bit precarious), I can't profess to getting very good mileage. About 19mpg/30kpg. On the F4/F4S Super Review it states the worst tested MPG was about 27 or 29 mpg - although who knows what their definition of worse is, as it doesn't exactly mention riding style.

Granted my riding style has been very mixed, probably 50/50 between just cruising and doing the speed limit to, taking it all the way through the tach on any given chance while I'm riding the back roads.
