Flat out, my 600's and my riding capabilities are wasted during the week. Neither are used to to capacity. To do so, I'd violate a bunch of laws and prolly have a driving record like some of you. Honest evaluation, there is no need for a 600cc sport bike in the city. A 1000cc super sport is pure overkill everywhere but the track.

So what's the pressing need for a 600? Y'all have to tackle the Dragon daily to get to work or something? A 250 would actually be more fun here in the city because I could wring it out more than my 600. As it is, if I don't take the highway to work I can barely reach 3rd gear.
Personally I have my bike just to ride around back country roads before or after work, or on the way to the gym. I see what you're saying about not coming close to the potential of the bike, but I don't have a whole lot of money to switch around bikes when I get tired of one so I chose one I will not tire of for years.

I can sort of understand the getting use to the power, not getting bored with it, esp in the time frames you speak of. A rider would have to log a ton of miles n concentrate alot on learning, spend alot of time on a lot practicing, doing track days etc, to be able to say they learn all they 'need' to know on the streets. But its a ongoing quest, none of us know it all and all should learn sumtin new every time we ride.
The OP already did n it was in line with what I been saying

I'm not sitting here with steam coming out my ears no. I know we all have our own opinions and we all are just expressing them. This is one of my touchy subjects lol, and just cause I rant about it doeant mean I'm taking it personally, but rather trying to get ppl to think, rationally, with their brain, not their d1ck, not their ego, not with their wallet, and not thinking about what others will think of em.

Like my lil jokes, I wanna learn to fly, think I'll start with a F18. Same difference if you thing about it, or learning to drive a semi b4 u learn to drive a car.

Thats the thing, some of us have seen this done a million times and see or hear of hundreds of ppl each year hurt because of it.

And just because we dont see eye to eye doesnt mean we're mad n hate ya now lol, its just a debate n one I kinda take to heart n not just here.
Trust me I know about speed kills. I was put into a coma from a car accident, and woke up paralyzed with a brain injury (obviously not still paralyzed). I just think (for me at least) it's wiser if you have self control to get something that will last you for a long time. I was exaggerating when I said I'll be ready for a 1000 soon, I'd LIKE to be but I'm not. It'll be years... but I just think it's a waste to buy something you're going to be through with in a year

Didn't read the thread. My kid learned on a 250 Ninja when he was 16. He outgrew the bike in about a month. I rode it a few times. It was like a bicycle with motor. Extremely easy to ride and a lot of fun just because it made you fearless. A lot of rev's required. Scary in traffic because of it's small size and lack of giddyup. And if it sat too long it wouldn't start because of the carb floats getting full or some such thing.

He got a 750 Magna next. Was happy with that for a couple of years, until he felt a CBR1000F.

Now all this assumes you are the type of person who has the judgment and skill set to be riding in the first place. Not everyone does. Just saying.

Default 250 or f4i

Im no egomaniac by any means and i just started riding this year and bought an 02 cbr600 f4i. I love it and wouldn't have any doubts about doing it all over again. I'm 22 and 180 at 6' and passed the test on it without a problem. I also agree that it wont be long before a 250 wouldn't be exciting anymore then you're just spending more money too quick. If you know your limits and realize you dont have to go ***** out all the time you'd be fine on the 600, thats just my opinion.

i learned on an 600rr but own a f4i but my roommate learned on a 09 250r it was good for him since he hadnt ridden before but he was getting bored with it 6 months later and loves ridding my f4i either bike is great for new riders the 250 is more forgiving but once your confident you would need to upgrade so my choice would be the f4i

Hey guys. just thought I'd update the thread. I got my bike on Sunday. It's a 2009 Ninja 250R . Sorry I won't be taking part in this community for now. you guys are great and thanks for all your advice!

it has 5k, new tires, Yoshi exhaust, dynojet kit, rear seat cowl, fender eliminator kit, K&N filter, and shogun frame sliders. the seller is a really cool guy and even threw in a dust cover, the stock parts that he removed (exhaust & seat), and has even offered to walk me thru synching carbs when it's needed. got it for $3750.

I have a vinyl cutter so I made some ninja kanji decals
