error lights blinking in dash
Hello all.
I am checking in here because my friend has an 01 f4i and when he turns on his bike and starts it up a light flashes in his guage cluster and his temp guage pegs itself full hot and the light in the guage blinks. It does this Right on start-up so it's not overheating.
I tried to find an answer to this in the PDF manual I downloaded from a link on here but I haven't found the answer yet.
Any help would be Greatly appreciated please.
Thanks. Jim-gnt

sounds like maybe the temp. probe for the gauge is messed up. It should be down on the radiator core I think. Look on the f4i wiring diagram and see. I'd almost bet that was it. If you can get your hands on an ohm meter (multimeter) get it and check the actual probe with it. If the meter reads 0 ohms or open line you have a bad probe.
good luck,

thanks for the suggestion f4imatt. I'll be sure to check that one out along with some other things with the multimeter.
That crazy cluster is doing something else now too. It shows the clock all fine and dandy until you turn the key to the on position, then...no clock.
I'm almost begining to think the cluster is going. The bike hasn't been ridden since this has started and the last time it was riden not a thing was goofey.

will do. ty.
My buddy has me helping him get the bike to the dealer so they can work on it now cause he doesn't feel like working on it himself. I told him to have them figure out thr problem and that we would fix it. so when he gets an answer on the problem at hand I'll post up the solution so others might find use out of the info...
