engine keeps turning off!
thanks for the tips guys. i think i do have too much oil in it. the window is filled up. i should definitely drain some of it. i'll check the battery too. hopefully it's the cause of this problem. i can't see anything failing like this because it's fairly new and only has 3,000 miles on it. so i hope to god it's not wiring problems. with the kickstand switch, i just need to jump the wires together? seems like a simple task. i'm new to bikes all together, i been working on cars up to this point.
after i fix thesethree problems, oil, battery and kickstand.. i'll let you guys know how it does. i should know imediately, since this problem happens pretty quickly.

well...
the oil is good now, the battery shows 11.8 volts while engine is off and about 14 volts while the engine is on. the kickstand switch appears to be working right, when i took it off and tried to put it in gear, it killed the engine. i put the sensor back on and it allowed me to put it in gear with the kickstand up.
the local service shop wants $80 an hour just for labor. i have no idea what's wrong with it and how long it will take to look for it. i'm sure the shop will take as long as they want, since they will make more money that way. i just don't trust them. this problem completely makes the bike non-enjoyable. i'm scared to make turns cause the engine turns off and i lose forward momentum.

Wait a minute, your bike dies when you lean on a turn also? That is some new information that would be nice to know......the bank angle sensor could be bad on the bike, that would cause the bike to die. If anyone else disagrees with me say so, but that is my interpretation.
Most shops don't take their time, they spend the proper amount of time to diagnose the problem and fix it correctly. Because it is a higher amount it seems like they over charge you. You wouldn't want to spend a couple of hundred of dollars and not have to problem fixed would you? If you are dissatisfied with the rate of 80 bucks an hour, go to your yellowbook and look for another motorcyle shop and get another estimate.

it also dies sitting up right too. sometimes it will happen 3 times within 10 seconds. it's also very hard to get the bike going sometimes. i have to mess with it for a while before i can finally get going. almost every time i put the kickstand up, it dies on me. it's very frustrating. it seems like the slightest touch of the kickstand will make the engine cut off.
does the sensor work off of a magnetic type activation?

I haven't heard of a magnetic switch....so i don't think its that. I am still thinking its got to be in your starter kill switch. There is such a variance of it shutting on and off and the kill switch being bad could cause that. Take it to a shop and pay to have the diagnose it and then fix it yourself.
if we are thinking kill switch, here's some more info for ya...
after the engine dies on me, while i'm just sitting there. it takes a couple tries by putting the switch to stop then run again before the fuel pump will prime again. i have to turn the key off and keep resetting the kill switch to get the fuel pump to prime. while i'm moving though, i am able to simply reset the kill switch and start the bike again.

I was thinking back to the basics.....kind had this problem with my lawn mower and a snow blower. 1. Fuel, Is it getting enough fuel? 2. Spark, are the plugs firing? 3. Air, is there plenty of air going to the engine to mix with the fuel? Those are the 3 basics to get any engine to run. Get those 3 elements and it will run for you.
did a little test today... we leaned the bike while it was sitting and the engine turned off. it was a very slight lean. maybe 10 to 10 degrees max is as far as we leaned it and the engine cut off. so i am thinking now the sensor is the problem.
anybody know how much they are and where they are located on the bike?
is this it?

Well, we figured out that the bank angle sensor was not secured and just sitting there. So after we bolted it down... The bike ran great. Didn't die on me one time!
