Engine brake backfire

Default Engine brake backfire
So I've noticed the last couple of times riding when I get up to about 9k then engine brake, around 5k I get a loud backfire. And it hesitates pulling from a stop. Fuel regulator?

Mine gives a loud pop at around 5k too, also when upshifting at that point.
Doesnt hesitate though...

Mine pops when I let off too. Its an aftermarket pipe. It doesn't bother me tho. But I replaced the FPR awhile ago

Ok. Mine has a two bros slip on that is gutted and only about 8 inches long. Maybe I just didn't notice it before when it was quiet. Thanks guys

are you sure it's a backfire sound, or do you just hear popping noise in the muffle that is caused by un-burnt fuel igniting in the exhaust?

That's kind of where I was going with this. That's y I thought fuel regulator pushing too much fuel and not burning it all up?
