ECU reprogramming/flashing

ECU reprogramming/flashing
Hi guys,
since I bought my CBR 600F4i 02, I have been noticing what I would say is a "non progresive power delivery" . Basically, this is what I mean:
- From 3000rpm to 7000rpm the engine run smoothly delivering more power as revs get higher.
- From 7000rpm till 8.500rpm, power delivery drops. Revs still go up but at a slower pace.
- From 8.500rpm the motorbike brings all its power on.
I wonder whether this a normal behaviour or there is something wrong with, ie. the ECU. I believe that, although the exhaust is OEM, the bike had a diferent fitted before. This may mean that the FI mapping may have been changed to fit the other exhaust.
My question is, Where is the ECU located in a CBR 600F4i? Can the ECU be reprogrammed/flashed in case it is the factory one (I mean, doing it myself)?
If you guys have any experience with this, it would be great if you can share it
Thanks!

Sounds normal. Power band doesn't really kick in till around 9k and really pulls hardest around 10.5-11k depending on bike condition. It's why I rarely ever change gear below 8k-9k: don't like feeling 'vulnerable'
You cannot 'reflash' the ecu. Or I have never heard of anyone successfully doing so. Anyone claiming to be able to do so for you is likely to give you a 400lb paperweight too heavy to lift onto your desk. You can buy an after market product called a Power Commander, made by Dynojet. It plugs inline to the wire harness and ecu, modifying the fi maps according to downloaded ones. Or a custom map if you have one made specifically for your bike. That will smooth out the throttle response
