It's common for levers and pedals to be scraped and bent in even minor drops. My brake pedal has been bent since I bought the bike, and I've put 20k+ on it. It's really not a big deal. Levers are cheap and easy to replace, pedals are a little harder to find but also easy to replace.

well the bike got sold before i had a chance to go look at it..oh well i'll continue the search for another f4i =)

I wouldn't be too upset, with your budget and some patience, you should be able to
get a decent ride that doesn't need anything but customization, instead of repair. ;-)
