Decals-under or over clear coat
My paint guy called today and asked if I want the decals I supplied him with clear coated over or placed on top. The part in question is a tail section from an 01-03 and the decals are the ones that say 600f4i that go on either side.(doing the tail conversion) I know it's a simple question but I just don't know. I have to tell him by 9am tomorrow if I want to pick up the parts by Saturday. I would appreciate as many insightful opinions as I can get. thanks.
all my former and current decal(s) always had clear coat over them. it makes them look shinny and gives them a small layer of protection. just my opinion.
however, once they have a coat over them you can forget about removing them.

Only if they're decent quality decals. Clear coat can serriously mess up low quality decals (ie. stickers). If you ever want to take the decals off to get the "clean" look, it's going to be really tough if there is clear over them. Something else to keep in mind.
Thanks for the replies so far guys, this is good, I was kinda hoping the opinions would lean toward coating them under. Thanks therabbit, good to know, Iordered decalsright from Honda and the paint guy said they'd be fine under the coat
