Resurrecting this beoutch...I am going to order the DDM HID "Slim Ballast" Kit this monday as I called and they have stock. I can't decide between 6000k or 8000k...Are they the same brightness with the 8000k just being a tad blue-er? I'm confused..

The diff between 4300, 5000, 6000, 7000 and so on is the color out put. The higher up the scale the closer you get to the purple spectrum. The lower you go the more yellow you get.
BMW, MERC, AUDI, and all other high end cars use 4300k. That is the closest to the suns natural colors.

I currently have 5k on my car which give me a slight bluish tint. but still mostly white color. IT really depends on what the light is being put throu. IF its just plastic then its the bulbs put if through projectors they can alter the light just a bit because they work like a magnifing prism.

also when ording with DDM make sure they are in stock. If not in stock then they may take up to 30 days to get. Be patient. If you absolutly need it tomorrow then order else where. My kit is DDM and i have had a good experience with.

Thanks. Yes I called them on friday for the exact reason you stated and they do have stock. I plan on rechecking tomorrow morning. I think 8000k is the nice blue color I want but I have been reading that it produces less visibility. Hows this? I mean I dont want a big bright shine in which you cant even tell how the headlights look....but I want a blue-er tint than 6000k (white)

Its sounding like these DDM HID's are a big blur of light with the stock lens/housing/reflectors...? Will 8000k still look sharp or will it just be 2 big bright blurs, I guess is my only worry.

either 6k or 8k will be fine. most visibility would be obtained with the 6k kit. you'll have a more blue-ish tint with the 8k but won't reduce you're visibility that much.
and without the use of projectors, you'll have light bouncing every which way due to the reflectors. it'll still be functional, but will be a nuisance to other drivers if anything. but hey, at least they can see you.

furthermore, my question is, do you ride with both lights on? running the highbeams in our housing will be a biiig blinding distraction. if you don't then you sorta lose function of the highbeams. i use them to flash people, and given that the HID takes a bit to warm up to full brightness, this defeats the purpose, and also don't feel like aiming them down for the same reason.
i actually got the mtec 4350k bulb and popped that in. maybe go with the 4750 to match the color, but it's a nice complement of function and looks to the HID lowbeams.

also, i think mtec bulbs are the best bang for your buck. did a lot of research on them when i had my old civic. lasted 3 years before 1 went out.

haha. ya I thought melam was a weird name...

"Melam is the common name for percussion instruments that are unique to Tamilnadu, Kerala and parts of South India."
