Default Cooling issue

Got a cooling issue on my 05 F4i. First, it idles too high. Like 3k. Then I let it sit and idle in the driveway to see and sure enough it overheated. Noticed the fan never came on. Fuse was good, so I jumped the radiator temp switch to ground and the fan worked just fine. As a temp fix, I jumped to ground so the fan runs as long as the key is on. Rode a bit and the temps are still high, 235° or so. Coolant is full, nothing is weeping from the water pump.

I have ordered a new radiator temp switch for the fan to switch on properly, but worried I could have a bad thermostat, water pump, blockage or wax unit. Any ideas?

There is a manual idle speed adjuster. If that's not the issue, its either waxing unit or large vaccum leak.
As for cooling, I'd put a new thermo in and new coolant and see what happens. Bad water pumps are basically un-heard of. Radiator could be blocked from bad maintenance as well. 235* just sitting at 3k rpm doesn't sound off if thats what you meant though, but 235 while riding is getting high.
