Default Clutch+

About what is the expected clutch change interval for an F4i? my bike's coming up on 20,000 miles pretty soon and the clutch feels kinda squishy, never slips under WOT tho.

20k miles seems pretty low for a clutch top be going out, however this is a bike and i could be wrong.

When i start the bike up the first inch or so of play in the lever is where it goes from fully enguaged to noticably disengaged, then there's maybe 2 inches of lever travel to the bar. Probly about 1/8th inch from the lever being fully out is when the clutch stops slipping even under very light throttle.

After i ride for about 20-30 minutes (20 minute ride to work, freeway miles, not much shifting) i notice the clutch start getting a little sloppier, feels like it doesnt stop slipping until the lever is fully released.

I guess it could just as easily be my hands being fatigued from riding and me not noticing the clutch engagement subtleties as much as when im fresh. I dont think i monkey the clutch to bad if any.

Just curious how other's clutch engagement per lever pull lines up with mine, if anyone's noticed any similar clutch 'fade', or if anyone has any experience with a clutch going out on an F4i and at what mileage.

hey mang...it's not the clutch...ajust your lever and what not, you can adjust from the bar and also from the clutch side of the bike.

i have almost 40K, i ride hard...clutch still good. squishy you feel is all in the lever, if clutch bad, you'd be feeling the slip...would feel like you're riding with the clutch partially in.

at 20K you shouldn't have any clutch issues. Your clutch cable will probably wear out before your clutch.

Adjust the cable and see where that gets you.
