i went to pull my chain of today to take my rim down to get my new tire put on and i noticed that there was no master link? Is there an easier way to take the chain off then using a metal file?

 

Put the file down slowly and step away from the motorcycle!

you don't have to take the chain off to pull the rear tire!
just loosen the axle and brake caliper bolt, pull the axle out, and slide the wheel forward enough to take the chain off of the sprocket, its really easy
