Default chain popping?

ive got a 03 f4i with 22.7k on it and i just got the bike about a month ago, when accelerating i hear a pop/click coming from the chain area (or at least i think it is) it seems to be in a patter or rythmic(sp?) and i was wondering if this was the chain or maybe a bent tooth on the sprocket? im replacing both sprockets and the chain anyways(im ordering new ones friday) and i was just wondering if anyone knew if that was the problem...didnt know if maybe it could be somethin else... wheel bearing (if there is one) or somethin... thanks guys

Probably the chain. You have a link or two binding up. When you replace it, the noise should go away.

Does the chain need lube? You might have some stuck links like demon says. If it is a sprocket/chain issue, the rhythm will increase with speed. Does it?
