Default Brake question...

i noticed when im braking, my front brake kind of "lunges".
its hard to explain but its like it brakes slightly harder on one part of the rotor, u know what im saying.
its fairly common, its actually doing it in my truck to but when im braking its creates kind of a bouncing reaction because of slightly harder braking on one part of the tire rotation.
i think u guys can figure out what im talkin about b/c like i said i dont think its uncommon but i can try to explain it in a different way if it is hard to understand what im talkin about.

what would i need to do to fix this?

Sounds like warped rotors Check the treadmarks on the rotors - if they are uneven / less pronounced on some areas of the rotor, this is your problem.

I have the same problem. At low speeds, it "lunges". Under braking at high speeds, the whole front fork vibrates really hard & scary.

Oh, and the fix: replace rotors & pads.

I was going to say warped brake rotors as well. i would take the rotors off and take em to a brake shop and just have them measure the surface of the rotors, they can tell you if they are flat or not and if not, what the offset is so you can see if it's within spec.....

the other thing you might want to check, and this may sound stupid, that they are bolted to the bike correctly and well....might be mimicking a warped rotor because the rotors aren't on the bike correctly (i am just shooting suggestions now).....i am assuming you have stock rotors which would be semi-floating not full-floating...full floats i would think might have their own issues that could be fixed with the buttons on the carrier, but i doubt that is the problem if you are running stock rotors....

the bike comes stock with semi-floating....the difference in semi and full as i understand it is that semi, the rotor is partially fixed to the carrier with a little play, full floating, the rotors are not fixed to the carrier and have play (they are more noisy)...i guess the full allows for them to function optimally because they sort of self-align while riding....

either semi or full are fine...i think racers tend to use fulls as they have more advantages which i don't quite fully know about....go with either or.....

my suggestion...take off your rotors (the front) and just have them checked to see if they are warped at all and also that they are on the bike flush, if not...just get a set of OEMs if you are fine with that, or upgrade to waveys if you want added bite....race rotors aren't good unless it's a track only bike because they take a certain amount of heat to warm up before they function as they are supposed to....as for pads...just go for street pads, you don't need race pads....plus if you get race pads, they have to be on race rotors, too much money for no street advantage.....

best upgrade brakewise you can do is getting SS lines which will give you more feedback at the lever....only swap rotors and pads for upgraded pads and rotors unless you need the extra braking, or you want to be flashy...like me...hahaa....

haha. no stock is fine w. me.
i used factory oil, factory oil filter, etc.
i figure if it comes outta the factory w. it it should work.
would the local motorcycle shop be able to check the rotors?
i guess i can just call them and ask

they should be able to tell you.....you might just be able to take them off and take them to a local garage and have them checked...i THINK it's just a machine that measures surface level....it's not something specific to bikes....maybe size wise but definitely not unique to bikes...i would think a local shop that does brakes would do it A LOT cheaper than a dealership, but call around

also some shops will shave down a rotor to level it out...just have to make sure it's within spec after shaving...some places will do it, some will not...

that's IF the rotors are even warped...just another option...
