Default Brake question

I removed the entire front left caliper to scrape out the grime. Replaced pads. Am having difficulty replacing caliper: piston caps keep sliding off, should they be adhesed in some way? Also, there is no daylight between the new pads and the rotor, should I have put the pads on after the caliper? thanx.

Default RE: Brake question

There are many other posts on this issue, but basicly the pistons are coming out too far - push them in, one at a time with a strong flatbladed screwdriver, and insert the pads, then pry the pads back far enough so the brake rotor will fit between them. Not too difficult.
