Default Brake Job

Hey guys I hope that I'm posting in the best forum for this topic as it is specific to the F4i.
I need to do some caliper work but need to know the size of the allen head to get the pin for the pads out. I want the kind that fit on a 3/8th drive and the smallest I have is a 7mm, but it's too big. I have the correct one but it's the L shaped key and doesn't have any size markings on it. Does anyone know the measurement?

tahoe to the rescue! it's 5mm...

i know we talked about getting the tools you need kit by kit, but little bits like this is expensive if you buy just one...and as far as quality, they don't need to be so on, unlike torque wrench and what not...which should be of at the very least decent quality.

you can buy a whole set of what you're looking for at places like harborfreight.com for cheap!

i think its 5mm too. . .i bought a set of Kobalt hex sockets at lowes for like 20 bux. . put it on the air ratchet and its golden. . i think i did the front brake job and new rotors in like half an hour. . granted the wheel was already off for like 3 weeks

Just watch out for the cheaper allens. Sometimes they don't harden them to a rockwell that's suitable for torqueing. The craftsman and snap on ones are the best I've seen. Cheap ones will round and also twist. For low torque values the cheaper ones work fine.
