Default bike stalled..

Jus wanted to start her up after putting the new main wiring harness (actually used).. SO it ran for about 2 mins then stalled. Noticed map sensor vac wasnt hooked up. Started it again, ran for maybe 2-3 min, noticed the neutral light was flickering and the tachometer was jumpy, then it stalled. Went to start it again and nadda. Bad starter relay. BUT any ideas why it would be stalling and the tach jumping like that and neutral light giving my issues.. I play around with the linkage by jiggling it to get the N light to come on. I also just cleaned the neg terminal, it wasnt that bad... Anyone have any issues similar?

Sounds like you have a loose or bad connector. Likely loose since it started, ran and stalled. Guessing I'd start along the ignition lines since its affecting running.

Or your electrical system isn't keeping things charged while the bike is running. (Don't quote me on that but I've heard of similar issues.)

Yea i was thinking that may be going on aswell since i did change the stator cover with a polished one.. so i dont know for sure until i get it restarted and take a reading .. anyone know what i should be reading with the motor running ? and best place to take that reading? At the battery ?

If I recall, optimal voltage while running is like 13.5. Somewhere in that neck of the woods is fine. Anything under 12.5 and it starts getting a little iffy.

I'd suggest putting the battery on a tender for the night, if you aren't going to do anything else tonight. That may help eliminate a couple questions.

Oh, and changing the stator cover wouldn't affect its ability to keep a charge going, unless you really goofed something up.

Got a universal starter solenoid today, fired her up and she ran great. So im guessing that it was my ground wire that was bad, i cleaned it up really well and it didnt stall, reading 14.5v at battery with it running, also neutral light still flickers but I got another gauge cus mine is beat up. See if that fixes it.. check out my newest post on my next issue with hanging rpm.. https://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-forum-11/rpm-hanging-3k-109315/
