Bike got hot all of a sudden?
This afternoon I was riding home from work, just on normal surface streets when I noticed my left leg getting really hot! Then all of a sudden the bike refused to shift gears. After fiddling with it for a few seconds (pushing it hard up and down to get it to change gears), it starts behaving again. Nothing else seemed out of the ordinary, engine temps were normal (180-190), no warning lights, oil level was normal, etc. When I got home I took a closer look around and noticed that the transmission and the frame were both really, really hot to the touch. Any ideas as to what could cause this? The only thing I've done recently is put on a slip on and changed the stator cover.
Take this suggestion lightly......
If it was a car, I would say that it kind of sounds like the Thermostat is sticking..... The bike got really hot all of a sudden (thermostat closed) and then went back to normal (finally opened again)

f4is run hot, and after i ride, my frame is hot, thats normal, the usual normal operating temp is 170-224 depending on the type of day and if your moving or not
Thanks for the comments... I'll check the coolant and the thermostat even though engine temps are always normal. Guess I'll just keep an eye on anything out of the ordinary. It was just really weird, since I've never had that "burning left leg" sensation before, and the tranny stopped shifting.
