Default Bike died on the highway, won't start now!

So had a little issue yesterday. Was driving on the highway, bike was fine then I hit some traffic. Once I stopped my gauge display started acting funny and the bike was idling low. The display started to just blank off and on then it finally stalled. Pulled off the road and tried starting it again, turn the key and nothing, no lights or anything. Got the bike towed to a friends and now when I try to start it the gauge lights up and everything like its supposed to be it won't start, just hear a clicking near the seat (assuming its the starter relay) and the display just blanks out. Now it seems to be the battery but its brand new, put it in about 2 months ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Check your battery voltage. New or not, make sure its got juice. If its low, charge it and the bike should start. Then check the charging voltage.

^ Agreed. Troubleshoot your charging system.

Thanks ill start there. Just seemed odd to me that right after it died I was getting no power then after letting it sit for a while the gauges and lights started working.

Check all major wiring harness connections, as well as your battery terminal connections, also. Something might've rattled loose.

It'll sit for a while and the battery will seem to gain some juice - but not enough to crank. It's kind of like when your cordless drill starts to die, don't use it for a couple hours and it will have a few good revs in it.

there is always some residual power in the battery...
sounds like ur stator or r/r has gone out.
charge up the battery and if she starts, u can rule out battery issues and move on to charging.

hook up a multimeter to the battery when fully charged and start her up.
check how much DC voltage u get when revving. If it is not at 13+ volts u need to start looking into the stator or regulator.

The manual is great for diagnosing and its pretty easy also Make sure all the grounds and other power wires are in good condition. I went through 3 R/R's before realizing my wiring to the R/R was bad...good luck
