12 amp or 6?
12 volt or 6 volt. Not amps. probably 1 or 2 amps. 12 volts not 6 volts, old VW bugs were 6 volts I think with a + ground which is completely backwards. Have a buddy help you with this if you aren't sure. I think the battery tender will tell you if you hook it up wrong, but don't do it if you aren't sure.

The above link has a good unit and its a great sale. Couple extra bucks even gets you the quick connects.

Ok my bike is officially away. Up on stands, nice and clean, with a fresh oil change, added Stabil in the fuel tank. It is plugged into the Battery Tender too. One question...do I leave it plugged into the tender the whole time, or when it gets a full charge should I take it off for a week then plug it back in?

you leave the tender on...like a trickle charger, when it gets low, it'll juice it back up and so forth.

i'm lucky enough to not have to use one for over 4 years now, still same battery...but i haven't ridden in 2 weeks with the valves getting done...so i hope it still starts!

completely safe to leave hooked up. it switches off once it reaches full charge. and switches back on when it drops below 80% (or something close to that). it's made to leave hooked up
