I'm not home so I can't check my battery but..........which one do we want? The 12 volt or the 6 volt?
Also, has anyone used the Battery Tender Jr. before and if so,what was your experience? My bike is having a hard time cranking over lately so I thinkI might need one of these. It's a 06' with the original battery. Whatdo you think?

12 volt. 6 volt systems are typically only used in REALLY old cars, or marine applications.

Also, get the one that is 1.5 A throughput... it's just the right size for MC batteries, but conveniently, works well on car batteries as well. I love that you can leave these things sitting overnight, the fact that they automatically shut off is a godsend.

oh also, you'll probably find that charging your old battery works well for about a week or two, then it will give you trouble starting again. If that's the case, the battery needs to be replaced. I've always had to change batteries on my bikes about once every two years.

 

Not necessarily have to change your battery, I have the original battery and I have left my lights ( exterior red lights) on and killed my battery numerous times and put it on the charger and its just like brand new again. My battery is 2002, so thats 6 years old. For the winter, I start my bike up once a month and let it run for about 30 minutes and the I put the charger on it two days before I ride it again in the spring. And my bike still runs great.

I'm using the battery tender junior and mine is rated for I believe .9amps. I did this because my battery stated it wanted a that amp charge for slow charging. I leave it plugged in all winter long, will be putting it on probably next week as I believe this was going to be the last good day of riding. but who know, its michigan.

 

I have a BT JR. It works great except on a dead battery, then I have to use a big charger to charge it some then the tender works great.

 

I've got the same 12v charger, and it's worked great without a hangup.

 

I use the VDC batteryminder plus (http://www.batteryminders.com/batter...o-p-16134.html) It works just like a battery tender jr. except it also conditions the battery by desulfating the posts. It runs $50 online (http://www.pacificbattery.com/batteryminder.html). Very highly recommended.

 

I'm on my 3rd battery, you are probably due for a new one. The tender (12v) should help with longevity.
