What size hole saw did you use? Just curious?

I am getting a new fairing and I need to do this as well. My old fairing already has the cut out. Should I match up the new fairing with the old one and use that hole. Or should I try this method?

Laser method: take fairing off, mount laser and point at center of bolt. Put fairing back on, drill hole, mount slider, done.

very smart, good job

Flipped it around to the front of the side fairing and then drilled a 2" hole with a holesaw. Make sure you put masking tape first where your going to holesaw it out, will keep paint from splintering and tearing up the edges.
^This!

Listen to this man, and save yourself the "laser" trouble. The above method is guaranteed to work everytime!

Will be installing frame sliders as a winter project. Will likely go with the play-doh method.

If you're going to go this route line up at lease three combinations of at least two differant fairing holes and pick a point in the center of the three differant marks. If you only do it once your hole will very likely be off center! That is why I recommend the laser method.
