Alright here's the deal. I have an 02 F4i.which I store during the winter....It's started once in a while with no problem. Then all of a sudden the battery is dead. Put it on a charger for a few hours and the bike fires up no problem but then if tried the next day it's dead again. Fully charged the battery for 24hrs & took it to a local shop which said it tested out 100% OK. Put the battery in bike, started, let idle, shut off and repeated a few times with no problem. Now after the bike sat for 2 months plus it's dead <again> and when the key is turnedI hear clicking...I can push start it no problem, but the lights will change brightness as the bike idles and also it runs like sh#t and if I rev the engine somtime the FI light comes on, but if I shut off the bike, the batteryis dead <again>. I'm hoping I just need to get a fully charged NEW battery and ride the hell out of it......I've never had an issue with the bike at all.
Oh yeah....the current battery is 2 years old and the bike has sat for over a year with minimul starting.

Yup...new battery. You should check out the battery thread...there are quite a few of them going on right now. But the short answer, just get a new battery and there's a 99% chance that's the problem.

 

My battery lasted 8000 miles/15 months in my bike. Sounds like you got luck with yours lasting 2 years.
