Default Another tire question

This is probably a stupid question, but here goes. When it's time for a new rear tire, (belt showing) is it okay to only change the rear tire? The front seems to be in good shape- deep tread, no belts showing. In the past I have always just replaced the worn tire. Thanks in advance.

Dude, I've always been told that I would almost go through two rear tires for every one front tire. Thats seems about right so far..... never had a problem with it,, just don't let that front one get too bad!

You can go with just changing the rear, unless you change brands. I had dunlops and went with Michelins so i got a front and a rear.

The tire should be changed long before the belts are showing!!!!!! Use the wear marker indicators to determine when the tires should be changed.

do not mix tire ratings. This means do not get a high performance tire for the rear and keep your stock one on the front. this results in uneven grip and may cause crashes. You can replace tires if it is the same rating as the front as the rear. try to stick with the same brand tires. Ex:: If you have Pirelli Diablos on now, and the front is good but the rear is shot, then get another Diablo, get what im saying?

When you say tire rating, you mean the "Z" rating? I know this has to so with the speed the tire can handle. Is there anything higher than the "Z" rating? The reason I'm asking is I have done the Red Bull mod and my bike is really fast! haha!

The ZR I believe is the highest it goes. How fast are you hitting it?

Every once in a while I go over 130- very, very rare. I love the twisties though. Top speed is not too important to me. Even when I open it up on the highway, I usually hover right around 100mph. Thats fun enough for my old a$$!

Get the same brand/model as the front. That way they will have the same engineered radius which will make cornering smoother.
Hate to say it, but wear down to the cords is d-a-n-g-e-r-o-u-s.
