Adding milage to cluster?
I need to add milage to my cluster to match my bikes original milage. I read a while back that you can do this using a resistor. Anyone know how I can do this? I need it done asap for my inspection. Cluster and bike are almost 20k difference.
Adding/removing mileage from an odo is illegal in every state that I'm aware of. What you need is a 'corrected mileage statement' or equivalent that your state provides. Simply fill out the form & have it recorded/documented at your DMV. Gauge clusters quit/malfunction/etc all the time. Just be upfront about it w/ the DMV.
As a matter of practice, our forum doesn't encourage or endorse illegal activity. So tread lightly w/ responses here.

I am simply trying to match my cluster to my actual bike milage. I doubt theres a lot of people looking to add 20k to there gauge cluster. Id rather have the milage match the bike even if dmv has a record of it. That doesnt prove anything to a potential buyer if I decide to sell the bike.
Anyone can put a lower milage cluster on there bike and pass it off as less. I am doing the complete oppisite of that.
Anything over 10 years old in NY is void from a milage statement. Milage is simply to keep track of inspections intervals and maint. My bike is actually a 2000 F4 with a f4i cluster swap.
