gas milage?
so I rode my bike to work today and on the way in I noticed that I went through 1/3-1/2 a tank of gas...its only 30 miles...any thoughts? seems like I should do better...I know Im hard on the throttle, but not that hard I dont think....stayed between 75-100mph most of the way though...

Around 42-45 MPG (around 16K per litre) so it sounds like either you have a leak, or a lead implant in your right wrist !
These gauges aren't that accurate - mine goes from full to empty in around 100 miles, but there's still another 60-odd miles in the tank before I hit reserve.
Range on these bikes from full to bone dry is about 190 miles, or 320 Kilometers, at around 80 MPH........

I know I didnt start with a full tank this morning...and when i did fill it it went well above the full mark so maybe its correct and the gauge just sucks....I will have to fill it someday and ride till I hit reserve so i know where it is and how many miles it ends up being...and I would have to say that my entire arm is made of lead.....Im all for the acceleration...not the speed... I was keeping it around 7k for alot of the ride in...been having trouble with my charging so i wanted to keep it higher to make sure I can get home from work, lol.

10 to 15% corn will get you 10 to 15% less.

Gas mileage
Out here in the flat desert, I get about 45 mpg even at 70 mph. Of course, RED I mix a little "Red Headed ****" juice in my gas so it is a little more potent!!!
By the way, my gas gauge really is bad too. The first half of a tank reads down to less than a 1/4 tank reading. I still have 1/2 a tank, but it reads less than a 1/4 so I figure that Red Headed **** stuff messes with gauges.

I usually get between 36-42. Significantly less than many of you. I don't ride her light, and I'm up 2 teeth in the rear, though. However, seems like I should be doing a bit better than this. I'll pay close attention in the near future. BTW, I can't find any gas that doesn't contain ethanol anymore. I've looked everywhere.

I only have 10% ethanol gas out here...that accounts for some, lead in the wrist...well theres another 10% and I filled up this afternoon and added 1.8 gals after doing 68miles. getting about 37mpg. my gas gauge is really bad...before adding the 1.8g it said I was just above the reserve line...maybe 1/8 of a tank?...thanks guys....maybe if I get used to how this bike rides and I can get the lead out I will reach over 40mpg.

I find that these old girls start to eat the fuel if you go over about 130-140 klm (80-90mph) for long distances ...
The fuel gauge's are dismally inaccurate
I thought that they were actually an accelerometer the faster I go , the faster the needle moves ... seems to have no bearing on whats still in the tank...
Hitting the gas , ( which I am guilty of doing all the time ) and fuel go bye bye's real rapid ... The price of raw power I suppose
I do not know what mine really gets because om too scared to work it out ....and because I am paranoid of running chit into my carbs , I always fill early at around the 120-130 mile mark (200klms) I start searching for a fuel stop ...quick !!
but when panic sets in from emptying our tanks at a rapid rate here in Aust , we have these guys to come save us ....
Who said we ride these old girls too fast !!
