Default 44t rear sprocket??

i bought a 03 f4i from my buddy about 2 months ago and im replacing the chain and sprockets on it and puttin the 520 conversion kit with 15t front and 48t rear, well i was comparing the sprockets before i ripped the new ones out of the package and i noticed a small 44 on the old sprocket....why in the world would a 44t be on there... i know 46 is stock and the "quick acceleration kit" is 15t front and 48t rear....is there something im missing? lol

Ask your buddy why he put it on there. I'd bet he was thinking commuting and fuel mileage. That, or he wanted more top speed.

I would put stock on there or step up a tooth or two if you want to get the rpm's up a little quicker.

He's wrong. He went the wrong way. I guess he didn't even notice.

plus1 to that. dropping teeth on the rear sprocket slows acceleration but gives you more top end.
