Default -2 rear sprocket?

Okay, so the guy i bought my 2000 CBR F4 off of mentions that the bike has a -2 on the rear sprocket. What is the difference in this change from the stock sprocket? Effects?

Are you sure it's not +2?

Stock sprockets for f4 are 16/45 so have a look what you have. Most people go with -1 +2 for faster acceleration.

if what you say is correct then it wont have as fast as acceleration and it wont feel as torquey but it will give you a higher top speed.

and if it's +2 then it's the other way around.

Exactly.

Here is a good site to see what different sprockets do to your bike:

There's absolutely no reason to go -2 in the rear from stock...there's simply no practical effect.

You should definitely count those teeth & see what it is for sure.

As mentioned previously, 1999-2000 F4 oem is 16/45...which is sufficient for everyday use.

The popular mod is -1/+2, which would mean 15/47. I wouldn't go any more than that.

The 2001-2006 F4i oem setup is 16/46. That is also a good option for the F4.

The person b4 you wanted more top-end less torque at launch , more than likely thy were scared of it or not into wheelies. I have 00 cbr 600 f4 with 15/54 torque monster with barnet clutch and springs.

do the -1 /+2 and you will get better acceleration. Not really more speed but faster to get to speed.

Thanks cjardine so -1 off the front sprocket and +2 on the rear does that mean I can keep the same chain ( stock chain)
