Default 2000 CBRF4 ~ Question on CHAIN

I do not really need race performance chain or sprockets... Could you please point me into the general direction of cheap/reliable chain and sprockets? (front and rear)

Also I don't know anything about the teeth count or chain leingths, I want to do all the work myself so I would like some help on this.

Should I change the ratio's and chain leingths for better preformance? I dont need alot of topend, I would like more torque.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, so I hear a clicking noise comming from what seems like something to do with the front sprocket and or chain. My chain is stock with about 15,000 miles and has not been cleaned I'm sure, my sprockets seem worn also... Could this be the source of the clicking? It only clicks/knocks when I'm accellerating 1st and 2nd gear, possibly higher but once I maintain a speed the clicking/knocking goes away.

Any tips?

oil from the engine lubes the tranny gears, etc...but NOT the chain and sprockets. you have to clean and lube those every 500 miles.
as far as 15K, it's time to change them...sprocket and chain.

you want this one...
A1060013
http://www.sprocketcenter.com/detail.aspx?ID=243
and select the lowend for gearing...that's -1.

as far as chain length, what you have right now will work with -1...so you can either wait to cut it yourself or have brian cut it for you from sprocketcenter. make sure you count the links correctly.

no problem MANG!
he has good prices, but other places may have better. but at least right now you know what you need!!

as far as chains, their ratings (525, 520, 530, etc.) means they differ by pitch, roller diameter, roller width and corresponding sprocket thickness and are not bike specific.
only the sprockets are bike model specific.

some may say go up 3 in the rear sprocket instead of -1 in the front for better wear, but it's not that significant. also -1 makes it easier for you to get the right chain length since it'll work with stock, instead of going up 3 and trying to figure out what length you need.

as far as going with a lighter chain...520 and sprockets...i did since i don't really commute or ride around the town anymore on my bike, just canyons and track...and can't tell the difference on the street mang...as far as the track and canyons...haven't been able to hit it just yet.

Thanks for the help Tahoe SC, I called up Brian today and ordered my chain and sprockets. Again, thanks for all the help. I told brian I heard about his place from cbrforums.com so maybe we will someday get discounts!

make sure the chain slack is good not too tight not too loose
you measure it in the middle of the chain by pullin the top chain at the top and bottom and getting 1 inch
