Default 06 F4I Micron Exaust and 02 Sensor

So I just got my pipe in the mail and before I put it on I was wondering if it was absolutely mandatory that I get an o2 sensor or do you think I can get away without using one. I heard from people that it was required, but I thought the bike already had one built in it. . . I know it's a stupid question but I don't understand this!

IM IN THE SAME BOAT,MY BIKE (06' F4I) CAME WITH AN O2 SENSOR THAT SCREWS IN THE HEADER PIPE IN FRONT OF THE MUFFLER.I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT BUT IT DOESNT HAVE ONE. I HEAR THAT I NEED TO BUY AN O2 ELIMINATION FROM POWERCOMMANDER.COM FOR $15
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE PURPOSE OF THE O2 SENSOR? WILL MY BIKE RUN IF I DONT HOOK IT UP?

your bike will run, but you'll get a MIL that stays on.

the O2 sensor tells the bike to lean out during times when the RPMs are constant and little load on the engine.

running without or using the O2 eliminator will only hurt your wallet because you'll burn more few and less MPG.

i would take the pipe to an exhaust shop, drill a hole and have them weld a bung/nut on there to screw in the O2 sensor unless the manufacture says otherwise.

if you have an 06 and ordered an 06 F4i pipe, it should have the port for the sensor.

thanks tahoe been trying to get an answer forever and I could never find out why! So I'll install it for now and get an o2 sensor on the way so I can mess with it, but for now THE PIPE WILL GO ON!
