'04 F4i and F3 shocks
I really enjoy my 2004 F4i, but I'd enjoy it even more if I could flat foot it. I'm 5'6" which allows me to get my toes and the ***** of my feet on the pavement. This makes for a pretty hilarious sight watching me try to back the bike up or walk it forward.
I've *heard* using lowering links on the back and then lowering the front leads to bad handling (it seems to be debated). I'm not going to the track or anything, simply commuting.
Shaving the seat? I'm not in love with the seat as it is.
I read somewhere that the F3 shocks can be used on the F4i and when used they actually lower the bike about 1.5". Needless to say, I was happy to hear this. But, before taking any action I have a few questions -
Is this true? Is it a difficult substitution to make? Anyone out there have first hand experience switching out the shocks?

Lowering the bike will affect handling. But will you notice with the riding you're doing? Probably not. I think that not being able to touch the ground is more dangerous than the minor handling changes.
In my opinion, it would be best to change the link, not the shock. Cheaper, easier, and the correct shock stays on the bike.
Remember to lower the front equally.
If you don't like your seat, try that first. They make thin gel packs that are softer than thicker foam.

If your looking at using dog bones then there all about the same, haven't ever used anything other than dog-bones on mine but I may be swapping mine out for something that can give me a 2" drop.
Dogbones usually only offer stock - 1.5" and 3"or 3.5" drops

What, if any, modifications to you make to the kickstand? Any idea what it would cost to switch to an adjustable kickstand or cut&weld the current one?
