02 F4i, weird noise when in 1st or 2nd gear?!
I figured I'll ask the Honda pros in here. I have an 02 F4i, and since I bought it, I've noticed this weird noise coming from somewhere in the front. It sounds like... a humming.. like a chain or something keeps turning.. kinda like choking.. but is not loud.. and it only happens when I downshift to 2nd and especially when rolling around 20mph or less, and then downshifting in 1st/come to a full stop. At first I thought the front wheel bearings might cause the sound.. as when I pull in the clutch and let the bike roll slowly, you can hear the noise. At the dealership a tech said that it might be from the worn out front brake pads.. supposedly he noticed that the left pad it's worn out more than the right one.
OK I thought... until tonight when I noticed something different.
While in 1st gear, rolling down a parking lot around 15-20mph, I pulled in the clutch and switch to neutral; and puff.. the noise stopped! So everytime the bike it's actually in neutral, there will be no noise. The bike was still rolling, but no noise. So what now? Does the clutch has anything to do with this? Strange...
I will like to pinpoint this damn thing, whatever it might be.. it's annoying. Thanks.
