Default Only runs on Cylinders #1,2 Please help.

Hi guys. I've been having trouble with my 91 600F2 this year. I only rode it once last year and when I got it out this year it started fine. I got a ways down the road and it quite numerous times and would only run on choke. (Yes fuel was on). It was due for a carb cleaning so I did that. I also changed plugs and oil. Then it would only run on Cylinders #1,2, and 3. So I checked plugs, wires, and coils per honda service manual. I then noticed the R/R had a corroded and broken wire so I fixed that. It didn't smell burned and it wasn't melted. Now it only runs on Cylinders #1, and 2. 3 and 4 are cold. All wires are back where they belong and the carbs are clean. Please help. I'm at an absolute loss here. Thanks in advance for any help guys. I appreciate it.

Ok, let start at the beginning. You cleaned the carbs and then it ran on 3 cylinder. You might need to clean the carbs again. Carbs can never be too clean. Blow them out with compressed air. This is important.

Or something got put back together wrong in the carbs. Take them apart again. Clean, make sure everything is tight and in the right place. Double check everything YOU touched. That is usually the cause of secondary problems.

Next, you may have just gotten a bad spark plug. Get a couple spare ones and swap out number 4 for another new one. Make sure the plugs are tight and the wires are snap on properly.

Double check the plug wires and make sure you didn't get 3&4 switched.

It's NOT a coil problem because 3 & 4 are on opposite coils. It's not got anything to do with the reg/rec, but it's good you fixed that.

Ok. So I cleaned the carbs. Again. I got cyclinder 3 back, but still not on 4. Plugs are fine. I have spark. I have fuel in the bowl and I have air. No matter what I did I couldnt #4 to fire. I decided to go out in the garage today and fire it up just for the hell of it and It ran on all 4. I shut it off, grabbed my stuff, fired it up and went down the road. However I forgot to turn the fuel back on so it quit. I turned it on, fired it back up and now it's the same thing. #4 won't run. I checked the tank for debris and it's clean. My guess is it's something in the carb still. What do you guys think? I have had the carbs apart more times in the last two weeks...... I could disassemble and clean them with my eyes closed. I'm dreading having to do it again. Any ideas on which part of the carb I should concentrate on? Any specific jet that is usually the culprit? Thanks for any help in advance!
