no temp reading
Hey guys, I've had my bike for a few years now (maybe 4 or so) and it's never given a temperature reading. I want to change out my instrument clusters but forgot that everything should probably be working before all of that so I'm going to fix this issue first.
I know the fan kicks in whenever it heats up at a light or just on after a while, so I know that works. I've also recently changed the coolant out. I don't know if there's a thermostat, but I assume there is one since the fan turns on intermittently. I doubt I have an overheating issue since I've ridden in all kinds of traffic, non-traffic, slow, fast situations.
Note: the clusters seem a bit beat up from the PO so maybe some of the wiring is off? The temperature needle is broken (but you can still tell if it moves), the trip meter is broken, can't be bolted in place (it won't fall out tho), etc.
I think I'll start here but what would be a probable cause and a 1st place to check this issue?
PS: 1993

found 2 very loose cables behind the instrument cluster. that's the most likely cause but I'll find out when I rebuild her and power her back up
I'll post here in case anyone has a similar issue
