He lied to you. Smaller chains do not last as long, ever. If that were so, they would use tiny bicycle chains instead to save money and weight. :P

Actually let me add to this. If you have a bike not garage kept and maintained well then most likely your chain will not last long no matter what size it is. However if you keep your chain well maintained then a 530 chain can last a VERY long time. Far longer than a 520

i ride hiway a lot but i also wanted a little more punch so what i did was -1 in front and -1 in back and it came out nice i really like it before with just -1 front under full gas it would lift the front just enuff to make it twichy i did not like that.

ok it is mostly just around town and the twisties, not a lot of highway. who makes a good chain and sprocket combo in the 530?
