Default Help Cleaning Cables

Hey I have my carbs off and while I am waiting for my new ones to come in I figured I may as well clean my throttle, clutch, and choke cable. I have no idea how to go about cleaning these cables. Any ideas?

I saw once where someone put one endof the cable in a ziploc with oil and let the other hang free... When new fresh oil ran out the other end they reinstalled em.
That said, the cables themselves can be had for a decent price if yours are too far gone.

there is also a tool you can buy for this.
Motion Pro Cable Luber - Street Motorcycle - Motorcycle Superstore
whats 10 bucks going to hurt? Its pretty much 10 bucks for this and 10 bucks for lube. Though you wont be using a whole can of lube every time. So id say its worth it saying cables are 20-30 bucks depending where you get them

I bought the Motion Pro luber a few weeks ago. I had one many years ago but I don't know what became of it.

It is nice for pressure lubing your cables instead of just letting oil or whatever lube gravity feed down the cable. It flushes any dirt and grime out. Be sure to have the cable centered in the grommet when you tighten the tool or it may squirt lube out when you use it. Some reviewers complained that it leaks and I suspect that this is the reason for most of those complaints.
