Default Fuel Tank Restoration

Hey,

trying to bring my ‘91 CBR back to life after sitting for 12+ years. Tank has a nice layer of rust. I planned on using the por-15 motorcycle fuel tank restoration kit. My question is do I need to do anything specifically with the breather and overflow tube? How exactly do they work inside the tank? When rolling the tank to get the sealer throughout do I need to worry about it clogging those off? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Overflow tube goes all the way through the tank, so nothing will get in it.
Breather tube is large. The gas tank sealer should end up as a thin sealing coat, no where near thick enough too clog anything.
You could always run a wire up the breather tube afterwards, if you want to be sure.

There is some debate if sealer kits are needed at all.
I know several people who have cleaned tanks of loose rust, then just filled then with gas and used them without problems.
and when filled with gas, they really shouldn't rust.
Just doesn't let them sit for years 1/2 full - good advice for any gas tank.
