Default F2 Idle trouble

Hey guys, long time no see. I have recently aquired a '94 F2. It had been sitting for quite some time and came to me as a totally awesome freebie. I drained the gas changed the oil and cleaned the carbs, but i am having some rather odd issues with the idle.
When I crank it over cold it idles around the 14-1600 rpm mark. But as it warms up the idle just screams up to 4k and sits there, I tried adjusting the idle screw but it does absolutely zero in either direction.
I am stummped and wondering what I should be looking at as possible causes?

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. MY brain hurts!
Thanks!

Air leak my friend, spray carb cleaner around the motor and see if the idle shoots even higher up! sounds to me like you have a really big air leak

+1, I had troubles like that and it ended up being an air leak at the carb boots.

Also make sure your choke circuit opens and closes correctly, your choke may be stuck open... then there's the air leak possibility, as already mentioned, and just for grins and giggles, did you check the idle adjuster?

So looks like the cbr fairy visited last night. I went out to diagnose the problem on my lunch and the issue is gone. Everything was normal. I checked for air leaks just in case and double checked my idle screw and choke circuit and all was working properly. So I'm gonna start her up again tonight and see if the issue comes back or not. And maybe just double check everything again.

Thanks so much for all the advice!
