hey guys so when i start my bike when its cold it will start but wont idle it sounds rough then it will die unless i keep the throttle up.. i turned up the idle to 2k but it still wont hold and it will die.. once it dies it really hard to get it to start again.. but once i ride it for a bit and get it to riding temp it will idle fine.. so what the hell is going on ?

 

spark plugs maybe?

 

how new or old is your battery. Is it properly charged.

 

did you change anything on the bike.....ANYTHING?

 

Kinda sounds like the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor. Tells your FI system to go into fast idle and when to go to reg idle. You can test for this by doing the "self diagnosis" off your engine malfunction light,
you count the blinks (need the manual for this). The ECT sensor will be 7 blinks. Someone here, no dought, will be able to explain the procedure but it will be wordy.

 

i have a full akrapovic exhaust.. power commander...not real sure whats all been done to the engine i bought it from a race team in cali.. it has ran fine for a few months but all of a sudden it started running ****ty... i changed the oil still didnt help.. i'm going to check the plugs when i have time.. oh and the batt is new..
