? About Down Pipe Temps
Frank,
you haven't said whether you're getting a spark from #1 plug. Worth checking this and if necessary checking the HT lead from the coil to the plug top. If you thought it worked OK for a while then you could have a broken lead or loose connection. Check this before you change the carbs.

I checked the coils, swapped the coils, same results. Pulled #1 plug, stuck it in the plug wire, grounded it against engine, pushed starter button, I saw spark, not sure how strong of spark, but spark non the less.
Any resolution on this? I have a similar issue.
After starting and warming up, I get (in degrees C):
#1: 200
#2: 75
#3: 195
#4: 200
After a 10 minute run:
#1: 190
#2: 180
#3: 190
#4: 185
This #2 has been an issue for me before. I have cleaned the carbs, sync'd the carbs, swapped plugs, adjusted valve clearances, replaced the coil packs with stick coils... Only thing I haven;t done is checked compression (I don't have a compression tool)

Number one after warmup is 100F to 150F, 2,3,and 4 around 300F, and it runs like crap when I take it for a test ride. I ran pretty dam good before I tried to tune out a slight hesitation at off/on throttle. Even dynoed at 86hp before and after the hesitation. Been throught the carbs a couple times, theyre spotless. Im sick of pulling the carbs. Dam!
I think I might be turning my attention towards the valves if this is continuing and you're absolutely sure that the carbs and ignition system are faultless.
Corrupt is on the money with a compression test. The tools don't cost a fortune and could save you a bald patch.

I did a compression test, mid 190's on all 4 cylinders. I also checked the valve clearences, all within spec. I will eventually try a different set of carbs, once it warms up outside and those carbs are clean.
