operating Temps...
Hello Gang. What kind of operating temperatures are you seeing on your rr's? The other day, was only in the 80's outside.... moving slow, I seen 220 on my '05.... regular cruising is anywhere from 175-185 usually... this alarmed me, and seemed a bit high. I'm sure it was contributed to my lack of forward motion (maybe 25 stuck behind a farm tractor). Anyone else seen temps this high?
On a side note, I did finally decide on exhaust... Two Brothers, Small Oval, Carbon Fiber... will be here tomorrow. Tonight I finished the Comp. Werks Fender Eliminator... Ok design I guess, but not worth the money IMHO... I could have made a fixed tag bracket myself, and just gotten a taillight with integrated signals. Now that I got it on there and seen it, there is room to angle the tag up more then it sits, and actually still be able to see it, so I could have made something fixed... oh well.. I didn't bother to put on the signals, I'm just going to go integrated tail... I'm not a fan of cutting factory wires.

RE: operating Temps...
I did 800 miles over the week-end. Temps were from 70's in the mountains at night and 80's during the day. The temps you noted are the norm. The fan is designed to kick on at 219 if that's any comfort to you. When I'm not moving, at traffic lights and so on, it climbs to 220 quickly but the fan holds it at that. I've only seen a few degrees higher than that, never above 225. Cruising speed of 60 up to 110 it stays around the 170 to 180. I know this is norm, but has anyone ever tried water wetter? It claims it can improve the heat transfer of ethylene and propylene glycol systems? http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp

Your temps are fine. High 70's cruisin around yesterday. After bout a 40 minute cruise my temp got up to 223 at a stop. Nothin to worry about.

That is pretty much what mine does. ON a normal 70 or 80 degree day it will run about 190 or so at 65 MPH. When I am in town or stopped it wil be between 215 and 225.

RE: operating Temps...
Sounds normal. At about 225 you'll here the fans kick on. I've heard some people say that they turn their engine off when the temps get this high, even if they're at a light. Don't do that, it will end up getting hotter yet because you'll be turning the fans off too. 225 won't kill the bike.
BTW, I have a friend who rides a Ducati Supersport 800. It's air cooled, and the normal temp while riding is 220-250 deg! Get's to 280 deg at lights.
