Default 1st Problem Encountered

So I was riding today and I tried braking with the rear brake only to find out it depressed all the way down, with no braking power what-so-ever. Then I just let off and pushed again and it worked. Im guessing its just brake fluid that needs to be replaced but Im not too sure since Im new to bikes. Does anybody have any ideas to what it could be or where the reservoir for the rear brake fluid would be?
Thanks

Time to flush/bleed the brakes! The reservoir is connected to the rear master cylinder with a hose, which is connected to the rear brake pedal. Just follow the trail and it should be there. Its a small circular shaped plastic container
