Someone tell me how to launch
Ok, I have never really launched my bike from a stop before and this is the second season I have had it. I guess I just took it easy all last season figuring I should get used to the bike.
I tried launching from a stop a few times in the last couple of days and could not get it going worth garbage....I can get going faster if I start the bike off slow and then give it gas once its moving.
What is the technique? Am I supposed to hold the RPM's at a certain level and then drop the clutch? (I want to keep the front tire on the ground so this seems a bit iffy to me). Or am I supposed to feather the clutch out somehow while giving it lots of gas? Advice would be appreciated. I am definitely a newb to dragging.

Without going into detail, I hold RPM around ~7k (I forget exactly, go more by sound) and release clutch to just before friction zone. When you want to go, feather clutch out (not a sudden drop, not as slow as a street shift - somewhere in between), and start rolling on throttle. By the time clutch is all the way out, throttle is wide open. I usually only have a couple seconds before needing to shift to 2nd.
The friction zone being just before the bike starts to move? I guess I always get scared and then let off the RPM's as the clutch comes out (instead of giving it more...this leads to a bog down). I will have to try this method at some lower RPM's and then just work my way up. Thanks.
yea never just drop the clutch cuz all that will do is bring up the front tire do just what aken said you rev it up to a decent rpm and let it out quickly but not all at once cuz if you do it too slow you will burn your clutch up within few passes
