how to do a good launch?
hey guys, im new to riding and im at the point where in pretty comfortable with my bike. i was wondering if there is a certain way to get a good launch off the line when taking off without popping up your front end. i know with cars u rev it up to a certain rpm and pop the clutch. is it the same way with bikes? if so, what rpm is ideal for a good launch? thanks

RE: how to do a good launch?
Use the clutch to deliver max power that can be put down, without lifting a huge wheelie. Crank on the throttle to keep the rpm's up in high hp territory.
The trick of the launch is to maintain high hp, and feather the clutch out quickly enough to use the power, but not too quickly to lift the nose. Control the throttle so that the additional load doesn't let the rpm's drop too much.
Before you know it you'll be hitting second and it gets easier.
It is all timing - you don't have to sit at a standstill winding the bike out - you can throttle/clutch immediately and go.
Don't do it wrong or you'll do a big wheelie... this isn't really beginner type stuff so really really take it easy. For you, or for a beginner don't let the revs come WAY up until you've mastered it at lower revs...
