Default Old 750 vs. any new 600

What is with people with old 750's that say they will smoke any new 600? One of my buddy's freinds has a late 80's kawi 750 and told him that he would smoke my F3 and my freinds RR. Then my freind actually rode it and said it was torquey but slow as ****.

It just pisses me off when people come up to me and tell me that they will smoke my F3. Escpecially when its not even true. I dont even race or talk ****, I just have people see me on my F3 and they start talkin ****. It annoys the **** out of me.

It depends man. There are old 750's that will beat up on your F3. 750 Ninja's, GPZ 750 Turbo, Gixxer 750's, a GPZ 750 with a good rider could to it. A VFR 750 would be close as well. Just because a bike is old, dont discard it. I ran up on a KZ 900 76' with a turbo on it and he walked my 900RR from a top gear roll. Dropping the gears made a huge difference and it got beat, but he was right there the whole time, and he didnt down shift. There are plenty of OLD hopped up KZ's and GS's running around that will walk your 600. Even though they look anchient doesnt mean they dont have some motor work done.

the old 600s weren't *that* far on hp - the biggest improvements have been in frame design... even compare stock F4 power to the RR - there really isn't much in it. Jump up to an old 750 and they will be very close to 600 hp numbers (just heavier).

The other advantage the old 750s had was they are not wheelie happy bikes - far easier to launch quickly as a result... respect anything on two wheels

What I guess i really meant was I hate when people on bikes say they'll smoke me just because they have a bigger bike, then I watch them go down the track or race someone on the street and you can just tell that they couldn't beat crap. And if the same exact rider raced a newer 600 and an old 750 they would be faster on the 600. I wasn't really talkin about my riding ability against someone elses, and if I was the answer was I'd probably be the better rider. I actually ended up teaching one guy what clutchless shift was and how to do it.

my cousin had a 94ish yzf750r and rode to my house one day. before i saw the bike i asked him what it was and he said "yzf750r and it'll smoke YOUR bike... well after easily walking away from him a couple times on our ride when we got back he said "damn that little 600's FAST!!"

YEAH, YEAH MY BIKE IS BETTER THAN YOURS, WHO CARES, DOES IT MAKE YOU SMILE, DO YOU STARE AT IT FOR HOURS, THEN YOU VS ME IS INSIGNIFIGANT. I THINK REAL RIDERS WOULDN'T CARE ABOUT THIS "KID" STUFF AND BE HAPPY ON A BIKE NO MATTER THE SIZE AND MAKE.

LIVE TO RIDE.

It's been a while since my first post on this but this discussion came up again at a party. This time the guy with the 87 kawi 750 said he can beat my freind on his '03 600rr. And not because of skill, he basically said if the same rider took both bikes down the track his would win.

I was kinda tired of hearing about it so I took some time to look up the specs and everything on both bikes.

The 750 in question made all of 85hp stock. He claims this doesn't matter since he has a jet kit and exhaust(and thats all).
The 750 always weighs 491lbs dry. And the rear tire size is 140, not that it can lose traction anyway.

The 03 600rr on the other hand makes something like 107 hp and the dry weight is something like 375.(I'm kinda guessing on these numbers)

Even my 97 F3 made like 90 hp and weighs like 420 wet.

But he stills claims he can beat us.

Oh and he's never launched his bike from a stop.

It's just frustrating argueing with someone that is brainwashed to think kawi's can beat anything no matter what.

my 91 gixxer 750 beat a 99 gixxer 750 at the 1/4 once, beat a smokin joes f3, beat an f4i, just to name a few, but all these riders were green and Im pretty seasoned at the drags...its not only the bike, its the rider
