Default Tyre paint ?

I have seen on this forum a picture of a lovely red cbr with new tyres fitted, the bike is well detailed and the photo shows that the tyre tread recesses are painted red also.. Would any of you fine fellows happen to know what product to use to achieve this look. I was thinking that airbrushing paint could be the way it's done. A crayon would be easier to apply though. I realise that the effect could be lost once water or temperature is applied but I wanted to have a go anyway. Any suggestions

Sounds like a phenomenally bad idea for anything that isn't a show bike. You'd prolly have more traction riding across a patch of sand than painted tires.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, Stuart. I don't know exaclty how they do it, though.

I think it looks pretty cool on some tire treads. Obviously wouldn't look good on some of the other ones. lol...\

Crayon isn't going to hold up (or show up), so I'm guessing it's some type of paint. I know they make car tires with colored stripes of rubber in them, too.

Looked into it further and found this: Dupli-Color - Hot Tires

Just please don't take a rattlecan and try to spraybomb em

Makes a bike a little 'too special' if you know what I mean

I've seen it done on a set of Pilot Powers and I didn't think it was that terrible. The only problem is that the paint starts to crack and peel so although the initial product looks kinda snazzy, you have to maintain it or it makes your tires look cruddy.

Depending on what color you want, this seems like a good way to get rid of some of that ugly fingernail polish that your woman wears. I bet you could burn through a whole bottle with one tire.

I used a paint pen to color in the Dunlop lettering on my old tires. I liked it (lots don't). but you have to keep doing it. the color doesn't last. I think I heard you get better results if you wipe the area to be painted down with mineral spirits or such to remove any mold release agents on a brand new tire.

see scorpionvmu's ROY 2011 for pics of the effect your'e looking for.
