I got a '96 cbr 600 F3, right now its faded red and black. I would like to paint it a burnt orange with some black vinyl accents. My dad's a reglazer so he has the spray gun and compressor. What type of paint do I need to buy? What other things do I need? The simpler steps there are the better. thanks

 

Go find a Maaco shop in your area, and pay for the better class paintjob. (it appears you want this to be cost efficient) Save yourself the hassle bro.

Ive got over 20 years in the autobody industry and currently own a small business doing jet ski repair and custom paint. Probably 70% of my business is painting.
Im not sure how to say this without sounding like an ***, but if you dont even know what to use then I wouldnt try to do it yourself. Im always getting skis in my shop that people attempted to paint themself and it just turns into a mess. I have to charge them way more to un-do all the mistakes they have done. You say your father has a gun... What kind of gun is it? If you dont have a good quality paint gun you will be fighting the job from the get go.
My best suggestion is to find someone in your area that knows about painting and ask them to help you. Im not trying to talk you out of doing it, just get someone to look over your shoulder that knows what they are doing.
On other forums I have tried to do a step by step painting thread, but telling someone how to paint in a thread is a huge process and practical experiance is the only way to go.
