Default painting my bike

I want to paint my bike so I can put some nice tribal decals on it. Is it easy to paint the farings on a bike (can it be done at home?) or should I take it some where and have them paint it? If I take it somewhere about how much do you think it will cost?

You can save some money if you take off the fairings and fender, then just take them to the body shop. That would cut out a lot of labor.[8D]

i took off my fairings and tank, used a scouring pad on the fairings and sanded the tank. now i'm giving it to a buddy to paint. it's not costing me more the $50. but he does a lot of paint work. i've seen what he did to his kaw and it looks great

It's pretty easy if you have the time.

I painted my bike and created a stirr among my friends! LOL!

Take off all the plastic. Remove any stickers/decals. Clean with soap and water.

Sand all the pieces with 600, 800 Grit sand paper.

Clean with Alcohol.

Spay primer on all the parts.

After dry,

Sand all the pieces with 600, 800 Grit sand paper.

Clean with Alcohol.

Then put on your color.

Sand all the pieces with 600, 800 Grit sand paper.

Then put on your color again.

Sand with fine grit paper.

Spray with clearcoat.

Is there a special type of paint I need to use and how do I apply it?

Is that the clear coat or the paint, and how do you apply it? Do you need some kind of high pressure sprayer?
