Default Painting My Bike

I just bought a black07 600RR and am looking to paint the right and left side gray mid fairings black. Does anybody know the best way togo about this? I read something in here on spray paint, but am leary of that idea. Or is there somewhere to buy replacements for cheap? Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes, Draconius, I want all black. Wellat least the front to be black and CBRFreek, I didn't buy a color that I didn't like. It's the only option on the 07' for black. So back to the question, any info on painting these parts?

Thanks.

If you want to do a rattle can job, you CAN make it look like a very good quality, it is just going to take some effort. Look around online for a detailed rattle can technique. Basically it is(not in this order):
CLEAN parts
Sand Parts
Paint thin layers of color (3-5)
Wet sand (1200grit)
Clear coat (5 layers)
Buff
Polish

If you take your time and be precise with it you can make it look gorgeous.

The other options is to take the fairings off, bring then to a paint shop and have them color match the black and paint it. You will save money by bringing them the fairings.

Take it to a professional body shop and have it painted. If it's not done wright you'll have nothing but problems. I do custom painting on bikes i do lots of repairs to bike's that people tried to do them selfs. Plastic painting is totally different then metal.

Thanks for the input. I'll probably take to a professional, so I don't mess up a new bike.
Love your bike TMJ!!

I would suggest painting it with Bumper paint. Go to one of the automotive stores and pick up a couple of cans of the matte-black bumper paint. It's durable and goes on very nice. I've sprayed a few bumpers with it and it looks 100% OEM.

Blue Fox-what kind of prep work is involved with bumper paint. I'm assuming I still would need to sand off the clear coat first?
TMJ-Do you highly advise against doing it myself? I would like a professional opinion.

Thanks guys.

I would try it myself, then if it sucks, bring it to a professional.

I would use it as a learning experience.
