Winter Storage

Winter Storage
I was gonna change the coolant in my toyota, and found out that I need special red coolant. Made me wonder, did I put the correct anti-freeze in my cycle; I used prestone ethlyne glycol extended life with distilled water. I wouldnt be so concerned except its gonna sit for a while. Anybody have a take on this? I waxed it, cleaned it, changed the fluids, checked the parasitic drain... had a large amp draw... turned out to be alarm, even when it was off...to check amp draw disconnect neg batt cable put ammeter between cable and batt terminal, check max amp draw with every thing off, if excessive draw(check manual), disconnect fuses one at a time till amps fall into range and then follow that circuit. I read about others putting oil in spark plug holes, and better to never start it until its ready to ride again. As for me, Ill run it once a week to get out condensation, and keep everthing with nice coat of oil. Keep tires of the floor with bike stands. Can anyone more familiar with storing bikes list what they do, so we can keep it in mind.

my biggest thing for people that are storing bikes is the oil. fresh oil is a must. burnt oil has corrosive acids in it that affect the internals.
fuel stabilizer.
tire care (correct psi, bike off the ground (or you move it daily) to not have flat spots).
take the battery out of the bike, slow trickle it every few weeks
as far as oiling the plugs, people do that in order to put oil into the cylinder so that the cylinder itself doesn't have a chance to rust, which is not a problem on the 954, so don't worry about it.

I use straight engine ice in mine, no issues. Other steps same as everyone else said, fresh oil change, fuel stabilizer, maybe even a can of dry gas, and put it up on stands. I personally take the battery into my house during the winter months, garage is not insulated or heated so it gets butt cold out there, I take re-install the battery and start the bike every couple weeks. Getting ready to do all that myself since I figure I'm done riding until April, damn winter!
